Shift Manager - Oxford

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:

As directed, leads operational activities during off-peak service hours and assists exempt management as needed.  The nature of shift leader is "work direction".

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Shift Leader Supervision

                1.  Provides "work direction" to store employees during service hours.

 2.  Addresses performance problems of store employees that require the attention of the RGM.

QSC Standards

                1.  Monitors product quality and takes corrective action where necessary, does midnight count when on shift.                              

                2.  Follows designated store cleaning plan and procedures (use of store cleaning chart for daily duties and restrooms).                         

                3.  Monitors speed of service and determines efficiency.

                4.  Exhibits positive customer service attitude at all times.

 5.  Makes sure that times and temperatures are logged for shift and signed off at the end of the night (including freezer and fridge).  Notifies Owner of any concerns or problems with log books.       

 6.  Make sure that breakfast and bake are up and ready for new start of day at 5:00 am.  Bake can be done by Shift Leader or store front employee (provided store front employee is trained on bake).

 7.  All bake and breakfast dishes prior to 6:00 am are cleaned and put away.         

Controls

                1.  Follows food build charts, flow charts and production charts.

 2.  Monitors labor usage against sales reading and recommends corrective action where necessary, overtime is not approved unless addressed with Owner prior to occurrence.              

 3.  Pre-rush check list is reviewed and signed off by store front staff and member from midnight staff.Initialed by shift leader.       

                4.  Controls food cost by minimizing waste, correct baking and production of products (breakfast and lunch).            

Training/Performance Management

                1.  As directed by DM, assists in training and cross-training employees.

Policies and Procedures

                1.  Follows all procedures in Operations Manual to REV standards.

 2.  Ensures timekeeping accuracy and wage and hour compliance during shifts where he/she is responsible,

                3.  Adheres to cash control policies and procedures.

                4.  Is responsible for counting in cash drawer for shift and counting out cash drawer at end of shift. 

                5.  Maintains safe working conditions by following all safety and security policies and procedures; notifies Owner of any accident or injury.

 6.  Follows all maintenance procedures and uses Master Maintenance Book for proper steps.

 7.  Uses Master Cleaning Book on a daily basis.

Employee Relations

                1.  Uses consistent and appropriate practices in carrying out shift leader and "work direction" accountabilities.                             

                2.  Advises Owner as to performance/discipline problems providing sufficient information for the owner to take corrective action as required.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

KNOWLEDGE:

                Thorough knowledge of Tim Hortons operational procedures and standards

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

                High School Graduate or GED

AGE REQUIREMENT:

                Must be at least 18 years of age

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Visual acuity sufficient to inspect restaurant and employees for cleanliness and neat appearance.
  2. Hearing and speaking ability required in order to train and supervise employees and to handle customer complaints.
  3. Mobility sufficient to move about all parts of the restaurant and to fill in for other employees when required.
  4. Must be able to move, bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift at least X pounds.
  5. Must be free of illicit drugs.
  6. Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that provide for accommodations of these senses.
